This is a quick video of a Koken Barber Chair restoration that we're currently in the middle of. Brian and I wanted to take the time to show a Koken Barber Chair locking mechanism and how to properly place it. Admittedly we probably could've done a better job shooting this video but we're just two mechanics trying to give it a shot so maybe the next one will be a little bit better.
As you can see here there is a locking mechanism as well as a ring that holds it in place. The lock itself as Brian says in the video has the word top-edged onto the lock to help you orient it in place. Once you place it in its groove you should also be sure to be aware of the position of the locking handle to make sure that it slides completely flush into place.
Once you have that completed clip the ring around it and once again test to make sure that it's completely within its place on the pump. It is important to make sure that it's correctly positioned, or the pump will not slide down into the well.
That will be it for this post but if you have any questions or like a video on something you need to know please let us know in the comments below.

Hi,
I am looking for both the locking blocks and the wire clip for my 1920s Koken barber chair. I am a working barber who needs a taller chair to work with and need help with the above lost parts.
Thank you,
Sonny
Where can I find a wire clip for my Koken barber chair. Where can I find a repair manual.
