The Salon Chair Guys

The year 2020 has taught us one lesson — safety over everything. Whether it’s that cute haircut or a spa treatment, a clean and safe salon is on the top of everyone’s mind. It’s needless to say how important it is for your salon to welcome your clients into a clean, safe space.

Like any other maintenance work, your salon cleaning should follow a precise strategy around the clock. As a salon owner, it’s time for you to develop strategies to deliver your maximum potential to your clients without compromising the health of everyone involved.

Create Your Cleaning Plan

Even though most salons already have a cleaning plan on board, the “new normal” requires some changes to that plan. As you create your plan, keep in mind that these will likely be your cleaning protocol in the long term, not just a short-term solution for reopening.

  • Start by listing all areas, surfaces, and equipment that requires cleaning and proceed to determine the frequency of cleaning for each item. Also, don’t forget about office areas, shared workstations/computers, etc.
  • Include all items at your stations and/or treatment rooms:
    • Chairs/headrests/armrests
    • Carts
    • Styling/treatment tools
    • Counters
    • Mirrors
    • Storage areas
  • Prioritize disinfecting frequently touched surfaces such as doorknobs, bathroom facilities regularly.
  • Items that come in touch with clients should be cleaned and disinfected after each session. Your plan must include time to clean the equipment and the supplies necessary to accomplish those cleanings after each service. Do a dry run for your cleaning procedures to determine the exact cleaning time.
  • Create a cleaning schedule and make sure your employees stick to it. Maintaining a chart and documenting it can also be helpful.

Your plan should also include informing your employees and clients about your strategies and requesting their cooperation for the most effective results.

Choose and Stock Up on The Right Cleaning Supplies

Choosing suitable cleaning and disinfecting supplies for your salon can be tricky because a lot of the products can harm your business. For example, using harsh chemicals to clean chairs in between clients can ruin the upholster and leave an odor.

Luckily, the Salon Chair Guys offer a range of eco-friendly salon furniture cleaners that will clean and disinfect your equipment without damaging your business or the environment.

Your facility should also include the supplies your clients will need to disinfect themselves, such as adequate hand soap in your bathrooms and hand sanitizer (with at least 60% alcohol). Have a sufficient number of gloves that your staff may need to go through the day. For the long term, investing in things like non-touch garbage cans, hand-sanitizer disposers will help you create a clean and safe environment. Check the inventory regularly to make sure you have enough cleaning supplies in stock.

To ensure your cleaning supplies offer enough protection against infectious diseases, you can check the list of EPA-approved disinfectants against COVID-19.

Clean Beauty

Train your staff

Each and every staff of your salon should receive a clear overview of the new protocol and their roles. It is crucial that your team understands and realizes the importance of following the protocol precisely and the stakes if they fail to do so.

Walk your staff through the entire cleaning protocol, which should include a demonstration of the procedures as well as introducing them to the disinfecting products. Additionally, you should emphasize their safety as well, such as using protective gloves, masks, etc.

With proper cleaning plans in place, you can make your business stand out by showing your customers your extensive effort in ensuring a clean and safe environment for them. It might seem like a lot of extra work for now, but maintaining and getting used to it will save your business in the long run.

Now that you have all the tools in place to keep your salon clean and safe, you can run your business without any troubles.
