First of all, thank you to everyone who participated in our School Supply Drive at K-Cutz Barbershop. It would not have been the success it was without your participation. On Monday, September 4th we had the pleasure of giving away 25 backpacks filled with school supplies and free haircuts to students in need. The remaining 30 backpacks and supplies were donated to Bell Middle school. With over 75 homeless students enrolled this year the cache was desperately needed. The event was our way of showing a commitment to being of service to our community.
Before the doors opened students and parents lined up for the opportunity to receive the free backpacks stuffed with school supplies and free haircuts promised. Mr. Johnson from Wilson middle school by himself brought 12 students who participate in his mentoring program. Several other parents brought their kids who heard about our supply drive from the social media post and word of mouth promotions around the city. It was a great day to be of service
From 10 till 4 our tribe of barbers, braiders, and stylist committed to giving not just basic haircuts but some of the trendiest hair styles available. The kids left happy and pleasantly surprised with cuts that accentuated their personality and gave them the confidence to be the great students they want to be. One teacher said to us “with bullying being so prevalent on school campuses, these kids who are in need have an opportunity to finally feel the self-worth needed to fully access their potential”.
Love your cHair as a non-profit organization is committed to doing what whatever we can, from behind and under the chair, to providing our community with those types of opportunities. Separate we can be good but together we can be a great agent of change.
It was a pleasure for all of us to give our time and vibration to those in need.
Thank you and Love your cHair!
Daniel
